Desperate to get their first win of the Premier League season, Tottenham Hotspur entertain newly-promoted Coventry City at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Monday evening.
Spurs rescued a stoppage-time point away to Manchester United last weekend thanks to Dominic Solanke’s equaliser. Despite dominating large parts of the game, they left Old Trafford with just a point. As a result, Roberto De Zerbi’s side stayed in the Premier League relegation zone and without a win after six games this term.
De Zerbi has taken the squad to Marbella for warm-weather training this week. The Italian will be hoping the team-bonding sessions in the south of Spain work well and recharge the batteries of his players for the visit of Coventry City, who won 4-1 against Newcastle United earlier this week.
Without much ado, here is the predicted Tottenham lineup for the upcoming league fixture vs. Coventry City.
Apart from Bryan Mbeumo’s goal, Antonin Kinsky was largely untested throughout the 90 minutes at Old Trafford. He will be keen to keep his third clean sheet of the league season when Spurs host Coventry.
Micky van de Ven was only fit for a role on the bench, with Marcos Senesi starting alongside Jan Paul van Hecke in central defence against Man United. Despite Senesi putting in an impressive display, we think Van de Ven should be ready to start here. He will replace the Argentine in defence.
Archie Gray should continue deputising for the injured Pedro Porro at right-back. Andy Robertson was left out of the squad last weekend to rest following a heavy international schedule with Scotland. So, he should be back here, but De Zerbi might stick with Destiny Udogie at left-back.
The midfield trio of Sandro Tonali, Lucas Bergvall and Conor Gallagher worked very well against United. They won the midfield battles against the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo and Youri Tielemans, and there is no reason why De Zerbi should not stick with them for the visit of Coventry.
Rodrigo Bentancur will begin his three-game suspension after he was sent off for headbutting Luke Shaw last weekend. Mateus Fernandes and James Maddison will get opportunities off the bench to make an impact.
Savio and Mohammed Kudus were very difficult to handle for United defenders. The duo were direct, dynamic and unpredictable, which is exactly what De Zerbi wants to see from his wide players. Savio and Kudus are expected to retain their spots.
Solanke redeemed himself with the decisive equaliser against United after missing several chances in the first half. It was his first goal of the league season, which should boost his confidence levels. The England international should lead the Tottenham attack again, with Omar Marmoush settling for a spot on the bench.
