Sheffield Wednesday will bounce back quickly, says defiant boss Henrik Pedersen

Large sections of the travelling support chanted for their manager to be sacked and the team were booed off at full-time following back-to-back defeats.

Pedersen said he is focused on getting his side back on track and cannot worry about his own future.

“We all have to take responsibility,” he said. “The players do and of course I am the boss of this so I take responsibility as well.

“After a good result at home, it has been a poor week. It is up to us all to bring us back and bounce back again. One or two wins and we will be back again. We want to see a reaction on Tuesday.

“What I can control is that I do my best every day and I do it with my players and staff. I look forward to the game on Tuesday and this is where all my focus goes to.

“We all feel the hurt when we are not the team we want to be. We will bounce back and we will do it quickly.

“We want to have the best out of everyone and we will work hard to do that on Sunday and Monday for Tuesday.”

Grant McCann hopes his Doncaster side can gain some momentum from their impressive South Yorkshire derby victory.

Rovers claimed a deserved third win of the campaign and McCann is determined to use a derby bounce to push his side up the table.

“I hope we can build some momentum,” he said. “We’ve kept four clean sheets in the last six games and won three of the last five.

“This is a tough league, really tough, and there’s top teams, big clubs like Sheffield Wednesday, Stockport, Leicester.

“We go to another on Tuesday, Luton. It’s tough and we have to be ready for every game.

“I was really pleased with us today. I thought we delivered a really good performance.

“We wanted to respond from the game against Stockport and I thought we responded really well.

“I thought the shape of the team was really good. The aggression, the way we ran forward and got back with real intensity. From both the attacking and defensive point of view, I was really pleased.”

McCann praised goalkeeper Tommy Simkin for his performance in keeping Wednesday at bay.

He said: “Tommy’s an excellent keeper. Wednesday came on strong for 15 minutes in the second half but when Tommy was called upon, he made some really good saves.”
