LSU football star doubtful to play vs Alabama in Week 10

LSU football linebacker Whit Weeks was listed as doubtful ahead of LSU football's meeting with Alabama. The SEC's first injury reports of the week were released on Wednesday night, casting doubt on Weeks' chances of returning.

The star defender left the Texas A&M game with a lower-body injury and has been out since. Last week, CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz reported there's a chance Weeks returns for the Alabama contest, which would be a welcome sight for Blake Baker's defense ahead of a high-stakes SEC game.

A doubtful designation isn't the be-all and end-all. LSU QB Sam Leavitt was listed as doubtful ahead of the Ole Miss game and still played.

When Weeks is on the field, he's one of the SEC's best linebackers. Per PFF, Weeks' run defense grade is 83.4 and he's registered 13 stops and three tackles for loss. Those numbers were in limited action since Weeks hasn't played since September.

Another injury report will be released on Thursday night, which could bring more clarity. However, Lane Kiffin and Co. might want to keep Alabama guessing until game time on Saturday.
