The Baltimore Ravens are adding another quarterback as they race to assemble a viable depth chart before Thursday night’s matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Baltimore is signing Kedon Slovis to its 53-man roster from the Green Bay Packers’ practice squad, according to The Ringer's Tom Pelissero. Slovis joins Joe Fagnano and Austin Reed among the Ravens’ available options during a week of significant uncertainty at the position due to injuries.
Slovis must remain on Baltimore’s 53-man roster for at least three weeks because the Ravens are signing him directly from another team’s practice squad.
Lamar Jackson injured his right thumb during Sunday’s 36-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills and is expected to be placed on injured reserve. Coach Jesse Minter said Monday that Jackson had not yet undergone surgery.
Tyler Huntley replaced Jackson but subsequently sustained a toe injury. His availability against Jacksonville remains uncertain.
Fagnano finished the game after both veterans departed, completing 10 of 21 passes for 91 yards with an interception. He also lost a fumble and played through a lower-body injury resulting from a low hit. Baltimore listed him as a limited participant in Monday’s estimated practice report. Minter said Fagnano should have an opportunity to play Thursday.
The Ravens brought Reed back Monday and signed him to the practice squad. His familiarity with the offense could be valuable on a short week, although he has not appeared in a regular-season NFL game. Reed completed six of 12 passes for 59 yards during Baltimore’s preseason.
Slovis, 25, gives the Ravens a quarterback with limited regular-season experience. The 6-foot-2, 223-pound passer appeared in two games for the Arizona Cardinals in 2025, completing one of two attempts for minus-2 yards.
He originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Indianapolis Colts in 2024. Slovis later spent time on the Houston Texans’ practice squad before joining Arizona. Green Bay signed him to its practice squad Sept. 1 after he completed 39 of 61 preseason attempts for 434 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.
Slovis played collegiately at USC, Pittsburgh and BYU. That experience does not erase the challenge of learning a new offense in roughly 48 hours, but Baltimore needed another healthy arm and a potential emergency option.
Fagnano appears to have the clearest path to starting if his health permits. Reed offers familiarity with the system, while Slovis supplies additional depth and the most regular-season experience of the three. The Ravens’ final decision could depend heavily on Tuesday and Wednesday’s injury evaluations.
