So far, the 2026 college football season has been one to forget for the Oregon Ducks. After entering the year with national championship aspirations, many things have gone wrong for Dan Lanning and his team, with the injury bug taking root over the last several weeks.
We've seen major players like QB Dante Moore, TE Jamari Johnson, WR Jeremiah McClellan, and now seemingly WR Evan Stewart miss time in the first five games. However, it appears that they may be getting some positive news on the injury front in the near future.
On Friday, McClellan, who has missed the last several weeks with a broken foot, posted an update to his Instagram story hinting at the potential that he might return to the field sooner rather than later.
McClellan was leading the team in receiving before suffering a broken foot during pre-game warmups ahead of the Week 3 matchup vs. the Portland State Vikings. In the first two games of the year, the redshirt sophomore had seven catches for 170 yards and a touchdown. He has been seen in a walking boot since sustaining the injury, but the intial hope was that he could return midway through the season, so long as the recovery went according to plan.
If McClellan is able to return soon, it would be big news for the Ducks, who are now not only going into Saturday's must-win game against Nebraska without their starting QB in Moore, but likely without their No. 1 WR in Evan Stewart, who has been listed as "doubtful" with an undisclosed injury. Stewart leads the team with 27 catches for 352 yards and four touchdowns so far this season.
McClellan has been listed as "out" for Saturday's game against Nebraska, but we will pay attention to his status on the injury report next week to see if he is able to make his return in Week 8 against the Illinois Fighting Illini.
