BackMohamed Salah watched on from home as Liverpool secured a 1-0 win over Inter Milan.
Salah lost his place in the squad for the trip to Italy on the back of his post-Leeds United interview.
Jamie Carragher called out the Liverpool winger for his actions, making his feelings on the situation very clear.
Arne Slot was asked about Salah after the Inter Milan win, and Thierry Henry has also shared his thoughts on the situation.
Henry covered the game as a pundit for CBS Sports on December 9.
As a former player who has had mixed relationships with a couple of managers, he was able to give an honest, clear view on the situation, and he thinks Salah made the wrong call to speak publicly about his issues.
He said: “I had problems with Wenger, with Guardiola… Have you ever heard me talk about it publicly? NEVER. I protected the club.”
“When you play for a club, you must protect it at all costs. No matter what’s happening internally, you protect the club, your teammates, the manager, the staff.
“You can be angry, frustrated, disagree, but you don’t air dirty laundry in public, especially when the club is going through difficult moments.”
“Instead, you wait, you sort things out internally, and then if you want to leave or speak your mind, you do it at the right time.”
“I understand the ego and Mo’s frustration… He scores 38 goals and ends up on the bench, but there comes a point where you must put the team before yourself.”
Alongside Andy Robertson, Virgil van Dijk was also asked about Salah during his post-Inter media duties.
The Liverpool captain spoke live on Amazon post-match and was pretty coy with his words.
He said: “It’s difficult, but it’s a collectively difficult situation that we’re all in. Obviously, between Mo and the club, things are going on. There are consequences, he’s not here today to help us try to get the three points. That’s the reality, but I don’t think anything changes in terms of our focus, our determination to get results for the football club.
“I don’t think I’m the one to speak about if someone has to apologise for anything. I think it’s him airing his feelings over the last couple of days, and that’s something that the club has to deal with.”
Liverpool now face Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday, and the latest news coming out of the club is that Salah could be selected.
He will then leave Anfield on December 15 to spend the rest of 2025 at the AFCON with Egypt, and it would probably be best for all parties if this situation is resolved before then.
