Faris Moumbagna (26) has been frozen out at Olympique de Marseille. He does not feature in the club’s plans for the remainder of the season, as per a report from L’Équipe.

His performance off the bench in the loss to Olympiacos in the UEFA Europa League earlier this month incited anger from Bruno Genesio. He was sent to the reserves in order to regain his fitness.

A return to the first-team set-up is not on the cards. He had been afforded a second chance due to the swathe of departures over the summer. It left OM particularly light in attack. He has made six appearances in all competitions, but now looks unlikely to add to that.

Genesio will continue to count on Neal Maupay as a backup to Amine Gouiri. Moumbagna, however, will now sit in reserve, having failed to seize his second chance. The Cameroon international’s contract with Marseille runs until 2028.
