Leeds United player ratings vs Manchester United amid Calvert-Lewin milestone amid Ao Tanaka enigma

Read how Leeds United's players rated against Manchester United in this afternoon's Premier League clash

Dominic Calvert-Lewin celebrates his 20th Leeds United goal

After much anticipation in the build-up, Leeds United had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Manchester United as the wait for a home win against the arch enemy goes on.

Bryan Mbeumo opened the scoring on 35 minutes when he slid home a cross to deflate the Elland Road balloon but Dominic Calvert-Lewin got goal number 20 in a Leeds shirt when he powered home shortly after the break.

A fast-tempo game including crunching tackles and muscular duels didn't provide too many clear chances until Nico Elvedi forced Senne Lammens into a save on 26 minutes, from an Anton Stach free-kick. But after missing a free header from eight yards out, Mbeumo directed a Youri Tielemans cross into James Trafford's far post 10 minutes before the break.

Six minutes after the break, Calvert-Lewin powered the ball home after a corner was knocked down by Tarik Muharemovic, sending Elland Road wild. Aside from a few blasts over the bar from Ao Tanaka and Anton Satch, no real clear cut chances presented themselves as energy faded towards the end.

Here are how the players rated.

James Trafford - Came way out to cleanly and expertly tackle Amad when through on goal in the first half. Then sprinted forward well to collect a dangerous through-ball in the second half. Otherwise, a steady Eddie throughout. 8

Jayden Bogle - Got up the channel cleverly and pinched the ball from Diogo Dalot during a one-on-one at the other end. Won the battle between the pair. Faded in the latter embers. 7

James Justin - Composed, when under pressure but let Mbeumo run off the back of him for the goal. Got up the right well in the second half. 7

Nico Elvedi - Was put under harried a number of times and nearly always won out. Brought the ball out decently. Final third passes not always there. 7

Tarik Muharemovic - On the end of a late and nasty one from Bruno Fernandes. Was doing fine but he couldn't stop the cross for the opener. Made up for it by grabbing the assist for the equaliser. Sprayed some good balls. 7

Gabriel Gudmundsson - Went forward decently but left gaps in behind him. Some delicious crosses in the second half. Had to watch his guard against Amad when one-on-one. 7

Ethan Ampadu - Thundered into a (mistimed) tackle early on, much to the delight of the home fans. A bit over eager initially before calming down. Didn't play too much of a role in anything major. 6

Ao Tanaka - Some good turnovers but passing wasn't always correct. Turned down chance to send Gudmundsson through in the first half, to Farke's ire. Had a few decent efforts on goal, intermingled with some very sloppy play but tremendous tackles - caused by his own dispossession. 5

Anton Stach - A bit loose in the first half. Corner led to equaliser. Neater passes after half time. Should have done better with a few shot chances and gave a lazy flick when on the attack late on. 5

Noah Okafor - Productive, always darting in the right areas. Often sprayed the ball wide, doing so in the build up to the corner for the leveller. Should have got the pass through to Calvert-Lewin when on the break on 67 minutes. 7

Dominic Calvert-Lewin - Put his body about. Directed a harmless diving header wide in the first half. Smacked home the equaliser six minutes after the break. Wisely stayed out the way of Noussair Mazraoui's attempt to try and rile him to his face. Offloading was nice. 8

SUBS

Sean Longstaff (80' for Tanaka) - Made a few simple passes, ticking things along. 6

Lukas Nmecha (73' for Okafor) - A poor cross early into his shift. Did get a good feel of the ball and get some passes off. 6

MANAGER: Daniel Farke - Lacklustre first half perhaps not helped by his line-up and tactics being predictable - not that he had any reason to change them. Second half, Leeds looked to the wings and a corner is what the goal came from. He was seen waving his arms upwards encouraging his men on but Leeds stagnated. The subs added energy and a tiny bit more impetus but not to a decisive degree. 7
