Cody Rhodes will lead Team USA against Team Mexico at WWE Survivor Series: WarGames 2026.

WWE Hall of Famer and AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio recently announced the return of the traditional five-on-five elimination tag team match at Survivor Series 2026. The PLE will feature the bout for the first time since 2021.

After the announcement, Rey Mysterio took to social media to confirm that he’d lead Team Mexico at WWE Survivor Series. However, he hasn’t revealed his partners for the match.

After months of tension, Cody Rhodes finally overcame his former mentor, Randy Orton, at WWE Crown Jewel. He defeated the Viper in a 27-minute last-man-standing match after punting him in the head.

After the match, Cody Rhodes shared his thoughts on the victory during the WWE Crown Jewel post-show.

“It is a huge win, and it’s a win that did not require me punting Randy Orton. I had Randy Orton beat, and I still punted Randy Orton, so what does that say? I don’t want to hear will he, won’t he, ever again. Demon’s been exorcised for sure. And this entire thing, no matter where Randy and I have gotten to, Randy still, at one point, was my hero, my mentor. That never goes away. This entire thing has hijacked my joy for what we do. It really has. So the melancholy and the deepness of all of this, not for me,” Cody Rhodes began.

After going through the whole ordeal, Cody Rhodes said he wants some fun competition. So, he volunteered to lead Team USA for the traditional five-on-five elimination tag team match at WWE Survivor Series: WarGames.

“I’d love something light. Something fun. Even if it’s fun competition. Rey Mysterio’s over there on Stephanie’s (McMahon) podcast talking about Team Mexico vs. Team USA. Sounds great! He’s gonna lead Team Mexico. I’d love Team USA, lead them along, find a team of my own. That sounds like something I’d like to do. Rey Mysterio, if you’re listening to me, let’s make that happen at Survivor Series. Let’s do that. You’re on,” Rhodes said.
