Adam Smith spoke about a 3-0 win for Bournemouth against Sturm Graz.
The Cherries kicked off their Europa League campaign with a 2-1 victory over Real Sociedad last month, following up that result with a comfortable triumph at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday.
That outcome came five days after the side shipped two goals in the first three minutes of an eventual 5-1 loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The search for a first Premier League win under Marco Rose continues for the club, but Smith was happy to see the squad respond to their latest setback.
"It has been a long time coming. The fans were up for it, the players were up for it so we’re very happy with the performance.
“It was very disappointing at the weekend [the defeat at Chelsea], we let ourselves down as players. We had a chat with each other, we got a reaction.
“That's a Bournemouth performance right there and the week's not done. We've got a massive one on Sunday against Sunderland and we need to get another three points.”
The scoring against the Austrian opposition began in the 43rd minute. Evanilson sent a looping header into the net courtesy of a cross from the 35-year-old.
Smith is now the oldest Englishman to register an assist in the tournament since the 2009/10 season, and he gave all the credit to his teammate.
"It wasn't my best cross but I put it in an area, what a finish from him and I think we deserved that little bit of luck. From there on we went on to win the game but in the second half we got a little bit tired but the quality that came off the bench is great and we look forward to Sunday now.
"It’s a great header, [Evanilson] deserved it because he has worked very hard this season and many more to come from him.”
