Championship club raid Australia again as third overseas signing this week made official
Halifax Panthers

One Championship club have confirmed their third Australian signing in just five days, with West Yorkshire outfit Halifax Panthers continuing to add talent to their squad.

The Panthers, who yesterday lost Delaine Gittens to Super League side Leeds Rhinos, have already announced the additions of Braydon Guyan from the Queensland Cup and Harradyn Wilson from the North Sydney Bears.

Fax have now announced yet another promising talent who will be making the move to England’s second tier, with “well sought after” centre Beau Newlands joining the club for 2027.

Arriving from the Manly Sea Eagles pathway system, Newlands played 12 games for the reserve grade side this season, scoring four tries.

Also able to play on the wing, the speedster averaged 133 metres per game in the New South Wales Cup, as well as two try assists, 16 offloads and 43 tackle busts.

Halifax will be hoping for an improved 2027 season after a tumultuous year in 2026. Having entered liquidation early in the season, the club were deducted 12 competition points. Had they not received that penalty, they would have ended the Championship campaign in 11th, just one place away from the play-offs.

Kyle Eastmond’s side have also confirmed the return of Bradford Bulls prop Brandon Douglas, whilst AJ Wallace will arrive from Toulouse and Riley Dean will join from Bradford.
