Paulo Fonseca’s assistant, Jorge Maciel, is expected to take charge of Olympique Lyonnais’ next two games, as per a report from L’Équipe. Fonseca is expected to imminently complete a move to Sporting CP and replace Rui Borges in the hotseat at the Portuguese club.

Maciel was the man who fronted up to the media and prowled the touchline during Fonesca’s long suspension. He is now set to take charge of Lyon’s games against Real Sociedad and Stade Brestois. The French club are not looking to make an appointment before the upcoming international break in order to give the incoming manager time with his new squad.

That man, it is expected, will be Carlos Vicens. Out of work since leaving SC Braga in October, he has been in talks with OL for several days. A two-and-a-half-year deal is being discussed. It remains to be seen whether the soon-to-be interim manager Maciel will remain at the club beyond his short mandate.
