There has been a lot of speculation about Drew McIntyre returning to WWE TV, following his six month absence from our screens.

The Scottish Warrior hasn’t stepped into a ring since WrestleMania 42, where he lost to Jacob Fatu in an Unsanctioned match.

McIntyre has filmed for a number of Hollywood movies in the months since then, but recently shared a video of himself training at Rusev’s KECH Pro Wrestling Academy.

With Drew McIntyre preparing to return to the ring, we could soon see him cross paths with stars who he has a lot of history with.

Here are three potential rematches for Drew McIntyre, ahead of the former Undisputed WWE Champion’s return to action.

Roman Reigns

Drew McIntyre has named Roman Reigns specifically as one star he wants to take out following his WWE return.

Speaking on Going Ringside, the Scottish Warrior said:

“I’ve got to beat Roman because I’ve never beat him. I’ve got these swords here, because Roman has got 95 family members, I may have to bring the sword back.”

The OTC is currently 5-0 against McIntyre in televised singles matches, defeating him at WrestleMania 35 in 2019, on the May 6, 2019 Raw episode (albeit via disqualification), Stomping Grounds 2019, Survivor Series 2020, Clash at the Castle 2022

With Reigns currently holding the World Heavyweight Championship, McIntyre has a lot of incentive for chasing down the Tribal Chief.

CM Punk

WWE recently celebrated Drew McIntyre and CM Punk’s 2024 feud, naming it as the #1 “nastiest” rivalry of the 2020s so far.

With CM Punk currently trying to earn an Undisputed WWE Championship rematch, the Scottish Warrior could become a roadblock on his path to winning back the title.

Punk and McIntyre last faced off one-on-one in their brutal Hell in a Cell match at Bad Blood 2024, and last shared the ring in the 10-man WarGames match at Survivor Series 2025.

With both McIntyre and Punk in need of some direction, revisiting this feud could be an excellent way to give them both something to do away from the main title scene.

Sami Zayn

Sami Zayn is now a two-time Undisputed WWE Champion, winning the gold back from CM Punk on the September 11 SmackDown episode.

It would make a lot of sense for Drew McIntyre to target the current champion, especially given the fact that Zayn has yet to pin the Scottish star in singles action.

McIntyre has a 13-0 singles record against Zayn, most recently defeating him to retain the WWE Championship at Royal Rumble in January.

With WWE having the opportunity to book a rematch with the dynamics reversed, Drew McIntyre could soon be the biggest threat to Sami Zayn’s world title run.
