The Baltimore Ravens hosted the Cincinnati Bengals at M&T Bank Stadium in Week 7. The Ravens wore a purple jersey and purple pants with their primary black helmet, showcasing updated details from their 2026 “Next Flight” redesign.
A pregame clip of Ravens players walking out of the tunnel in the full look ahead of kickoff showed the uniform with an all-purple body beneath the primary black helmet, leaving some fans online far from impressed.
The uniform combination is part of the broader “Next Flight” redesign the Ravens unveiled in April, which introduced new details across the entire kit. Among the changes was “Midnight Purple,” a color-shifting material that reflects differently in varying light and appears in the jersey numbers, sleeve shields, and collar accents.
The pants were also updated with diagonal talon-style stripes inspired by the Calvert crest featured in both the Baltimore and Maryland flags.
An account on X named “NFL Fashion Advice” posted a clip capturing LaJohntay Wester walking out of the tunnel and dabbing up his teammates in the purple look ahead of kickoff.
Fans reacted quickly after the tunnel video circulated on X. The response was not particularly warm.
“Not impressed,” wrote one fan.
“Coming out of the tunnel looking like grape soda is a choice,” quipped one user.
“Hideous as usual,” said another.
Several fans pointed specifically to the shading across the combination, with the Midnight Purple accents sitting alongside the standard purple on the jersey and pants drawing attention.
“I’m not even trying to hate, but why are there like 4 shades of purple here?” asked one account.
“Did they unintentionally make the mismatch purples look iridescent???” queried one fan.
Others directed their frustration at the redesign’s direction.
Notably, Sunday’s combination pairs the primary purple jersey and matching purple pants with the regular primary black helmet rather than the new matte “Darkness” helmet introduced in the redesign, producing an all-purple body silhouette that drew several comments about the amount and differing shades of purple.
“This redesign looks worse every week,” said one user.
“Something is off. Too much purple, not enough gold IMO,” added another.
Meanwhile, the Bengals arrived at M&T Bank Stadium wearing orange helmets, white jerseys, and white pants.
The Ravens wore the updated purple-on-purple look at home. The “Next Flight” redesign introduced several other looks for the season, so Sunday will not be the last time fans see the new details in action.
The Ravens held a 13-7 lead over Cincinnati with 8:37 remaining in the third quarter, but the Bengals won 35-13. So the jersey might not have affected the luck factor.
