Neil Lennon is preparing to be without the Dunfermline star for three to four weeks as a result of an issue that forced him off in a win over Stenhousemuir last month.
The 23-year-old was subbed during the first half of that game at Ochilview, with a hamstring injury, which Lennon had hoped wouldn't see too serious.
However, the attacker, who has six goals to his name so far this season, is set for a period out of action.
"Josh is going to be three to four weeks anyway with his hamstring, unfortunately," Lennon said.
"He had a scan and there's a bit of damage on the tendon, so, he’ll be out for at least a month.

"I was hopeful at the time, but the scan results weren't great.
"It's not disastrous either. It’s obviously not as bad as Sam's (Sam Cleall-Harding), but significant enough."
Lennon, however, had positive updates on some of his other injured players, despite John Tod being a doubt for tonight's Fife derby at Raith Rovers with a bug.
Callumn Morrison and Olly Thomas were both in action on Tuesday night, at Bonnyrigg Rose in the KDM Evolution Trophy, whilst Luke Robinson and Freddie Turley are "getting closer" to returning to fitness.
"They're back now out running and that's great news," Lennon continued.
"Freddie may be a little bit quicker than Luke and, obviously, Freddie's had a long time out.
"So, even when we do get him back in, it'll take another few weeks to really get him up to speed.
"Olly Thomas will have benefited from Tuesday night, as will Chris, Kian, Charlie.
"It was good to have that game, because they haven't played much football recently, and it's always good to get minutes into their legs.
"So, that's important for the depth of the squad as well."
