Jones has joined League Two outfit Crewe Alexandra on a short-term deal until January.

He joined Alex’s academy at the age of nine and went on to make 185 appearances for the club, scoring 21 goals, and he also won promotion with The Railwaymen in 2020.

The 30-year-old joined Lincoln City that summer and then moved to Wrexham in August 2021.

During his time at The Racecourse, Jones helped the Reds clinch back-to-back promotions, climbing from the National League to League One.

He left north Wales in January 2025 to sign for Burton Albion but his time with the Brewers was hit by injuries and he was released at the end of last season.

Jones had been a free-agent since then but has now got the chance to kick-start his career with Crewe.

The former Scotland youth international has been training with Lee Bell’s squad since completing the PFA’s pre-season programme while out of contract.
