Manchester United return to Old Trafford for the final time before the international break today as they host Aston Villa in the Premier League. Michael Carrick may wish to play it down, but a win for the Reds today should keep him in his job beyond the two-week pause.
United are without Lisandro Martinez after the centre-back was sent off against Chelsea last weekend. In his place from the last Premier League game could be Leny Yoro. This would allow Diogo Dalot to move over to right-back, where he is evidently more comfortable.
Over on the left, Patrick Dorgu is back in training but Carrick's press conference comments suggest he won't feature - at least not in the starting line-up. Luke Shaw is also out so Ayden Heaven could move from centre-back to left-back as the Reds search for a solution to their defensive woes.
In midfield, Carlos Baleba has been ruled out for the foreseeable with a hamstring injury. Youri Tielemans replaced him in midweek and should be back in the team to face his old side. He will be partnered by Kobbie Mainoo.
Bruno Fernandes will start in attacking midfield but he may not be joined by Amad. The Ivorian offered little on Tuesday night and his replacement, Shea Lacey, was electric. Now seems like the ideal moment to give the teenager his chance. If he is to start on the right wing, Bryan Mbeumo could be moved to the left again to accommodate Matheus Cunha through the middle.
Cunha has struggled leading the line this season but during the second half against Roma he was superb. Carrick will definitely be willing to trust him in that role again.
United predicted XI: Lammens; Dalot, Yoro, Maguire, Heaven; Mainoo, Tielemans; Lacey, Fernandes, Mbeumo; Cunha
