The truth is Nicolas Jackson really divides the Chelsea fan base, and it is not too difficult to understand why.

Some Chelsea supporters rate Jackson very highly because of his link-up play. The striker is excellent at holding up the ball and bringing others into the game.

However, there are also Chelsea fans who are not too convinced with Jackson because of his finishing and decision to leave the club last summer as soon as he was handed some competition.

Ultimately, those who are admirers of Jackson will not want to see the 25-year-old join rivals Tottenham Hotspur. Yet from a business perspective, it could be a very good deal for Chelsea, regardless of the amount of money involved.

Nicolas Jackson sale could improve Chelsea and Tottenham relations

Tottenham are reportedly interested in signing Jackson from Chelsea in what would be a very controversial transfer.

These are two clubs who have refused to do business with each other in the past. During the Roman Abramovich era, there was a lot of animosity at boardroom level between the two London rivals.

However, with Abramovich gone, tensions are likely to have eased a bit. Chelsea selling Jackson to Spurs would only confirm that and could help the Blues to sign players from them in the future.

Tottenham always have top players, even in these past two seasons where they have had to battle against relegation.

Chelsea, though, are never in the equation to sign any of their stars because of that boardroom tension. If they allow Jackson to join Roberto De Zerbi’s side this summer, that should change in the future.

Chelsea would probably have loved to sign Cristian Romero in this transfer window

If Chelsea and Tottenham had a better relationship, the Blues probably would have made a move for Cristian Romero during this transfer window.

Signing a new central defender was a priority for Chelsea, while Romero is looking to leave north London.

Romero is one of the best centre-halves in the Premier League, but he was never a realistic option for the Club World Cup holders because of the bad blood between them and Spurs.

Chelsea have signed Maxence Lacroix from Crystal Palace to strengthen their central defence, though, and he is also an excellent defender.
