Ex-Celtic chief Mark Lawwell joins Chelsea as senior scout

The former Celtic head of scouting and recruitment has joined Chelsea as a senior scout within their first-team recruitment department.

Per the Scottish Sun, Lawwell has already started work with Chelsea and will be involved in identifying potential signings for the club. He previously spent a decade with the City Football Group, including a spell as head of international relations and scouting.

Lawwell also worked alongside Ange Postecoglou at Yokohama F Marinos before following the Australian to Celtic.

During his time at Celtic, Lawwell was involved in the recruitment of players including Alistair Johnston, Yang Hyun-jun, Alexandro Bernabei, Gustaf Lagerbielke, Maik Nawrocki and Paulo Bernardo, among others.

He also played a role in Celtic's move for South Korean striker Oh Hyeon-gyu, while Nicolas Kuhn was among his final notable additions at the club.

Lawwell resigned from his position as Celtic's head of first-team scouting and recruitment in March 2024.
