Lily Elston, from Charlbury, near Witney, has claimed the World, European, and UK National Junior Hovercraft Championship titles in a single season.

This accomplishment marks Lily as one of the leading young figures in her sport, a result of years of dedication.

Lily first took control of a hovercraft at just three years old and started participating in organised races in 2022 when she turned 11.

Since then, she has steadily climbed the ranks, gaining championship titles and valuable experience at various competitive levels.

Starting in the Colt class, she quickly moved up to the more challenging Junior category, proving her mettle against the best young racers in the sport.

Her journey has seen her progress from the Colt class into the more powerful Junior category, where she continued to prove herself against the best young drivers in the sport.

After winning both the UK National Junior and European Junior Championships in 2025, Lily returned this season with even bigger ambitions - and delivered a truly exceptional set of results.

Hovercraft racing is a challenging sport that requires a blend of skill, precision, courage, and mechanical know-how.

Unlike many other motorsports, competitors must control a vehicle that moves on a cushion of air, necessitating constant adjustments and rapid reactions as they race across varying surfaces and tackle tough corners.

Off the racecourse, Lily is also deeply involved in preparing, maintaining, and repairing her own hovercraft, working closely with her family as part of Team Elston.

The family’s long-standing involvement in the sport, which includes racing, engineering, and teamwork, has played a significant role in Lily’s development.

Lily’s journey has not been without its obstacles.

The physical demands of racing, the pressure of competing at championship level, and the mental resilience needed to consistently perform have all been part of her journey.

Despite these challenges, Lily has constantly pushed herself and delivered results on the biggest stages.

Now, with the World, European, and UK National Junior Championship titles under her belt, Lily is preparing to transition from the Junior category into the F50 adult class, where she will compete against more seasoned racers and more powerful machines.

The family is deeply proud of Lily’s achievements, not just for the championship titles but also for the dedication, resilience, and maturity she has demonstrated throughout her racing journey.

Her family said that at just 15 years old, Lily’s motorsport journey is a testament to what can be achieved through passion, perseverance, and family support.
