Arsenal Transfer News: Arsenal have little reason to rush into another expensive midfield signing after a busy summer, even with Mikel Arteta continuing to refine his attacking system. The Gunners sit second in the Premier League with 21 points from eight matches, although Tuesday’s Carabao Cup exit to Fleetwood Town on penalties offered a reminder that their campaign has not gone entirely to plan.
Martin Ødegaard remains central to Arsenal’s creativity, while Eberechi Eze gives Arteta another option between the lines. With Martín Zubimendi and Bruno Guimarães strengthening midfield, the club can afford to be selective rather than chase another high-profile name simply because he has attracted attention.
That selectivity makes sense when Arsenal already have creative options, but Paz offers a different profile through his movement between the lines and ability to create chances in tight spaces.
According to TEAMtalk, Arsenal are among the clubs monitoring Como midfielder Nico Paz, but the Serie A side could demand as much as €100 million, approximately £87 million, for the 22-year-old. Transfer Feed relayed the report, which also states that Como have no intention of selling him at present.
Paz has recorded three goals and three assists in eight Serie A appearances during the 2026/27 season. His close control, movement between the lines and ability to create chances would suit Arteta’s possession-based approach. However, that tactical appeal must be balanced against the cost and the limited room Arsenal have for another attacking midfielder.
Real Madrid could complicate matters further. Reports indicate that the Spanish club hold a buy-back clause for 2027, reportedly worth around £69 million. Arsenal would need clarity on those terms before considering a serious offer, even if they decide Paz offers enough quality to justify the expense.
Arsenal should continue monitoring the Argentine, but an £87 million commitment looks difficult to justify. Ødegaard and Eze already occupy key creative roles, while the summer investment in midfield has strengthened Arteta’s choices. Paying a premium for another attacking midfielder could leave more pressing needs underfunded.
If Arsenal plan another major investment in 2027, they should first assess their options on the wings and at centre-forward, where a signing could address a more obvious squad need. Paz has clear promise, but Como’s valuation and Real Madrid’s contractual influence make this a deal that demands patience rather than an aggressive bid.
