Truro City go top of league after Ebbsfleet victory
Tyler Harvey celebrates scoring

Truro City assistant manager Stewart Yetton says his side will not be focusing on their league position despite going top of National League South.

The Tinners beat previous leaders Ebbsfleet United 3-0 in an eventful game that saw the Kent side have two players sent off.

The win took Truro a point clear of Maidstone United at the top of the table with Ebbsfleet a point further back in third with a game in hand on the Cornish side.

"It's kind of irrelevant at this time of season," Yetton said when asked about going top.

"I think the key point in November, December time is to just stay in and around it.

"It's so long to go. When you get to March or April is when it matters.

"Of course you want to be in and around the mix and it's such a competitive league, they're obviously a very good side, they've got a game in hand so they can go back top as well.

"It's nice, but it doesn't really mean anything to us, it doesn't change anything from week to week."

Ebbsfleet - who had not lost a league game all season - went a man down in the 16th minute when James Vennings was shown a red card for a dangerous tackle on Tom Tweedy.

It took the hosts until the 58th minute to make the breakthrough when top scorer Tyler Harvey gave them the lead.

Tom Harrison made it 2-0 when he headed in a Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain long throw before Harvey converted an 82nd-minute penalty.

Ebbsfleet were reduced to nine men late on when Camron Gbadebo was shown a second yellow card for a foul on Jack Stretton.

"I thought we were quite professional in putting the game to bed and keep doing things right, which was important for us," added Yetton to BBC Radio Cornwall.

"We were very cautious of them catching us on the counter-attack because when they spring on you they are good and they've got some real good attacking players.

"So we were nervous about that, but hopeful that we would have enough possession to carve out more chances, which we have and then we scored from a direct throw to make it 2-0 and that gives you a little bit more breathing space."
