Unai Emery will make a late check on Aaron Wan-Bissaka after Aston Villa’s final training session on Saturday before facing Manchester United.
The right-back has missed the last five matches in all competitions with a hamstring injury, having picked up the problem during last month’s win at Newcastle United.
Matty Cash will be unavailable to Emery on Sunday after picking up his fifth yellow card of the league season against Fulham last weekend, meaning he will serve a one-match suspension.
"Aaron is close, but tomorrow we will see if he can train normally and feel good," Emery explained. "Ruggeri is still working alone but he is progressing well. I think the other players are available."
Lamare Bogarde is another option for Emery to replace Cash, but the Dutchman has started only two games this season, both in the Carabao Cup, and has played just once at right-back, in the defeat against Bournemouth.
Meanwhile, Ruggeri remains sidelined with a hamstring injury of his own and is expected to return after the international break.
Amadou Onana is still recovering from the ACL injury he suffered while playing for Belgium at the World Cup in the summer.
Villa are searching for their first win at Manchester United since 2021, when Kortney Hause scored the winner at Old Trafford for Dean Smith ’s side.
United ended a winless run of nine games on Tuesday night when they came from two goals down to defeat AS Roma in the Champions League.
