Sami Zayn had to defend his WWE Championship against Je’Von Evans in an impromptu title match on the October 26 episode of WWE RAW. However, the champion needed a distraction from The Vision to get past the Young OG.
Zayn came to the ring while Pearce was announcing changes to the Women’s World Championship match. He demanded time to speak and complained about the lack of respect he was getting as Undisputed WWE Champion.
Sami Zayn pointed to his achievements, including headlining WrestleMania and becoming a Grand Slam Champion. Despite those accomplishments, he believed he was still one of the most underrated wrestlers in the world.
The WWE Champion then brought up Reigns and his demand to be acknowledged, arguing that some WWE stars only received recognition because they demanded it. He also claimed that The Bloodline was never better than when he was part of it. He also took shots at Trick Williams, Penta, CM Punk, and Je’Von Evans.
However, his promo took a turn when Evans came out to confront him.
Evans pointed out that everyone was targeting Zayn because he held the championship. He also demanded that Zayn address him directly after mentioning his name.
Zayn dismissed Evans as inexperienced and claimed the Young OG was nowhere near his level. He then tried to leave the ring, but Adam Pearce returned and announced that Zayn would defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against Evans.
The match began.
Evans started the match aggressively. He used his speed and athleticism to put the champion under pressure. He came close to a three-count with a Frog Splash from the top rope. Zayn survived the pin attempt but soon rolled out of the ring as the referee began counting.
That’s when Penta’s music hit. The Men’s Money in the Bank holder came out with his briefcase and a referee, seemingly trying to make sure Zayn returned to the ring instead of escaping the match.
The distraction gave Evans another chance to attack the champion. However, Bron Breakker suddenly rushed down the ramp and attacked Penta. Evans then launched himself over the top rope to take Breakker out, giving the WWE Champion time to recover.
Back in the ring, Zayn caught Evans with an Exploder into the corner before hitting the Helluva Kick. He then scored the three-count to retain the Undisputed WWE Championship.
The action continued after the bell. Breakker entered the ring and punched Evans repeatedly. Penta tried to fight back with kicks. However, Bronson Reed joined the attack, taking Penta down with a clothesline. Logan Paul was also there at ringside.
Breakker then hit Evans with a spear, followed by a Tsunami from Reed. The group turned its attention back to Penta, with Reed holding him in place so Breakker could hit another spear. Reed finished the assault with another Tsunami.
Later, Penta and Evans were at the medical office for examination. They demanded revenge, and Pearce announced that The Vision will defend their World Tag Team titles against Penta and Evans at Crown Jewel.
