LIV Golf faces a seriously difficult task if they are to get the new version of their league off the ground.
Numerous high-profile players have already announced their decisions to leave LIV Golf, including Jon Rahm, Louis Oosthuizen and Cam Smith.
Since Saudi Arabia’s PIF withdrew their funding from LIV at the end of the 2026 season, it has become apparent that money was the sole factor behind almost every single player’s decision to join the league in the first place.

What was the event that got you hooked on golf? How did you end up falling in love with the game?
Ian Poulter announced his exit from LIV Golf on Friday as well, as the league’s problems continued to mount.
It’s very clear that even if LIV Golf does continue in 2027, the landscape will be significantly different moving forward.
However, things got even worse on Friday afternoon as two more players’ exits from the league were confirmed.
As the famous old saying goes: when it rains, it pours.
Tyrrell Hatton is the latest big-name player to call time on his LIV Golf career.
He confirmed the new via his Instagram account on Friday evening, while suggesting how excited he is for what the future may hold for him.
The Englishman is one of the best players in the world, so his exit will obviously be a huge blow for the league.
Meanwhile, South African Branden Grace and Australian Lucas Herbert have also opted out of carrying on with LIV 2.0.
Grace took to his Instagram account on Friday to confirm his exit from LIV.

Meanwhile, Herbert confirmed his decision to part ways with high profile X account Flushing It.
The super-talented Australian will now focus his attention on securing his PGA Tour card over the next year or so.
Lucas Herbert, an integral member of the all Australian Ripper GC on LIV Golf, has confirmed to me he is leaving the league to play on the DP World Tour in 2027. Lucas won twice on the LIV Golf League this season and shot an historic 62 at Royal Birkdale on his way to a T6 at The Open. He is also the third highest ranked Australian in the world and will be a huge asset to the DP World Tour next season.

Herbert, 30, has been one of the best performers on LIV Golf over the past year, winning twice in the 2026 season.
The Australian has huge potential and will undoubtedly forge a successful career for himself, whichever tour that may be.
Meanwhile, Grace is only 38 himself, so he still has plenty of golf left ahead of him as well.
LIV Golf’s hopes of having any kind of future may well depend on Bryson Dechambeau now. If the two-time US Open champion decides to leave the league it could well be curtains for them.
