The Everton legend has vowed to make things tough going for his players

Ferguson, 54, made a stunning return to management earlier this week.

He’s taken on the role of Glentoran manager and has vowed to have the historic Northern Irish club challenging for silverware.

Everton legend Ferguson last managed two years ago, when his stint at Inverness Caledonian Thistle was brought to an end after the club entered administration.

His only previous permanent manager gig was a short-lived spell at Forest Green.

But now he’s back in what has been described as the most extraordinary appointment in Northern Irish football history.

Ferguson has vowed to raise the standards at Glentoran and appears to have wasted little time in ramping things up.

So much so, he’s revealed that one his players was SICK after his first training session.

But the former Gers frontman has joked he wanted MORE players feeling the heat after day one.

Any players hoping things might get a little bit easier will be disappointed because Ferguson insists it’s only going to get harder.

He said: “The session was probably a wee bit different to what they’re used to, but I only got one player being sick unfortunately.

“Normally I’d get two or three in the first session but I only got one this time.

“But a good set of lads, applied themselves well. Good tempo to the training.

“To be fair, the young lad had drunk a bit too much water.

“So we gave them a wee bit of a harder session than they were probably used to.

“That’s normal for me. That’s the way I want to work.”
