Key Points

  • Luke Rodgers and his family showed up to an Oct. 12 Steelers game to support Aaron Rodgers.

  • In photos shared on social media, the NFL star posed with his parents, hugged his nieces and smiled with his brother.

  • The sweet family photos come just a few months after Rodgers hinted at the end of his family’s years-long estrangement.

Aaron Rodgers had a few very special guests cheering him on at least week’s Steelers game.

“Last weekend was pretty special,” Aaron’s brother Luke Rodgers captioned an Oct. 18 Instagram post. The carousel of photos featured several sweet snaps from the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Oct. 12 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts.

There were a few photos of the field and the family watching the game, but most notable were the sweet family snaps of Steelers quarterback Aaron smiling alongside parents Ed and Darla Rodgers with Luke, his wife Aimee Rodgers and their three young kids. Though Aaron and Luke’s younger brother Jordan was not in attendance, he did like the photo set on Instagram.

The snaps from throughout the weekend saw Aaron’s family cheering him on from a private suite in the stands. Another photo saw Aaron crouch down to greet his nephew and nieces, while another pictured the family members all together, smiling for the camera. In another photo, Aaron adorably cuddled his niece.

Having his family present may have been just the lucky boost Rodgers needed: the Steelers ultimately won 34-22.

The set of sweet family photos comes not long after Aaron ended his years-long estrangement from his parents and brothers.

The Rodgers family discord first came to light in 2016 when Aaron’s younger brother Jordan appeared on JoJo Fletcher’s season of The Bachelorette. In one episode, Jordan brought her to his hometown for a family dinner, with an empty chair representing the estranged Super Bowl champion.

“Me and Aaron don’t really have that much of a relationship. It’s just kind of the way he’s chosen to do life, and I’ve chosen to stay close with my family and my parents and my brother,” Jordan said during the episode. “It’s not ideal, and I love him. I can’t imagine what it’s like to be in his shoes and have the pressure he has, the demands from people that he has. I don’t have hard feelings against him. It’s just how things are right now.”

The following year, their father Ed told The New York Times that Aaron hadn’t spoken to the family since 2014, cryptically stating, “Fame can change things.”

That appeared to change in July, when Aaron shocked fans by sharing a set of photos that showed him hugging it out with his father, Ed, and mother, Darla, and reuniting with Luke. He later explained that the reunion came about after a few “tough conversations” with his brothers Luke and Jordan.

Aaron has additionally credited his wife Brittani with encouraging him to reforge his familial bonds. “A big part of it was getting married and having those conversations with my wife that allowed me to kind of open up to the possibility of coming together,” Rodgers said in August.

He noted that the process of patching things up has taken “a couple years,” but added, “it’s been really beautiful to reconnect with them, all of them.”
