Dover’s Jake Dixon has vowed to come back stronger in 2027 after ending the World Superbike Championship in low-key fashion.
Honda rider Dixon finished the season in Jerez with finishes of 11th, 15th and 15th and ended the campaign 19th in the table on 41 points, having missed six events after breaking his wrist in pre-season testing. Champion Nicolo Bulega won all three races in Spain.
Teammate Somkiat Chantra was also a points fInisher in race three, a place ahead of Dixon, but the Kent racer is ready to forget about 2026 with next year already on his mind.
“This isn't the way I would have wanted to finish the championship,” he said.
“I haven’t felt comfortable with the bike all weekend, so I just tried to get the best possible result in these conditions. Anyway, today brings to a close what has undoubtedly been a very difficult season, but at least we finished the final race in the points.
“We'll focus on the positives we can take from this year, particularly the progress we showed before arriving here at Jerez, and the fact that I'm fully fit and super motivated to work with my team towards next season with very different goals.
“I'd like to thank everyone on my team and at Honda for giving their best and working incredibly hard throughout the year. We'll come back stronger.”
The provisional 2027 calendar has been announced, with Dixon due to start the new season at Phillip Island, Australia on February 19-21. The British round is pencilled in for Donington Park on July 9-11 and the season is scheduled to end in Shanghai on 29-31 October.
