We are still awaiting the long-anticipated return of Tiger Woods. 

Woods, the greatest golfer of all time, planned to return to competitive play at The Masters last year after another back surgery. But a DUI and his subsequent rehab brought him out of the spotlight and kept him off the golf course. 

Now we look ahead to the 2027 season, wondering when the 15-time major winner could tee off again. Speculation has circulated that Woods could play on the Champions Tour or try to play The Masters again after he was seen swinging the club at one of his events. 

It was recently reported that Woods was offered a chance to compete for $4 million alongside some of the PGA Tour’s best talent, but he declined.

Tiger Woods turned down Skins Game invitation

The Skins Game is back for the second straight year, with some of the PGA Tour’s biggest stars competing for their share of $4 million. Brooks Koepka, Jackson Koivun, Wyndham Clark and Justin Thomas will go head-to-head at Atlantic Fields Club in November. 

In the Skins Game, each hole is worth a set amount of money, and the hole winner adds it to their total. If the hole is tied, the sum carries over. It’s a fantastic way to showcase the players’ personalities in a quiet period for the PGA Tour.

However, these four players weren’t in the original plans. Woods was originally offered the opportunity to play, but he turned it down. 

But don’t give up hope on a potential Woods return just yet. The PNC Championship, a team golf event for family members to play together, has a spot reserved for Woods and his son, Charlie, in case they choose to play.

An official decision is yet to be made, but there is a chance that we see the 50-year-old in action in December at the Ritz Carlton Golf Club.
