It is beginning to sound like the possibility of Darren Till fighting at Anfield is more likely than not, with BKFC continuing to negotiate.
This past September, Darren Till made his second appearance in the BKFC ring when he beat Yoel Romero at BKFC 94, once again increasing his star power in combat sports.
Since then, Till had been in talks with Jake Paul regarding a boxing fight but the controversial internet sensation turned-boxer shockingly announced that he will fight Cedric Doumbe next instead.
Despite that, though, ‘The Gorilla’ could be set for the biggest fight of his entire career next, as BKFC are in accelerating talks with Anfield over a potential spectacle at the iconic football stadium.
For several years now, Till has been calling for a fight at Anfield, which is the football stadium of Liverpool Football Club. The 33-year-old was hopeful that if he won a UFC title, he could get the promotion to hold a big event there, which obviously unfortunately never came to fruition.
But with BKFC continuing to put on some incredibly huge shows, like their event at Fenway Park this past August, the potential of hosting an event at Anfield has become a real possibility that even the 33-year-old didn’t think was possible. Not only that, but Fenway Park and Anfield are both owned by the same company, Fenway Sports Group, making an event at Anfield even more possible because of their already positive relationship.
And in an exclusive interview with Bloody Elbow, BKFC president Dave Feldman provided an update regarding negotiations for an event at Anfield, claiming that they will have answers within the next few weeks.
“Look, BKFC being what it is, it’s kind of like the step child of combat sports, we have to do something big and we are going to do something big. Yeah, (the Anfield) talks are very, very serious, we’ve been in talks already about it and I think that those talks are going to move forward next week and we have some really good things that we’re thinking about… We have to go big or we’ve got to go home because we have to prove ourselves to the combat sports world, we are MMA 20 years ago, where everybody looked at it cross-eyed… We have to do bigger and better things… So those talks are absolutely very real,” he continued.
At this point, the most likely opponent for the 33-year-old’s next fight is his longtime rival, Tommy Fury. The pair were scheduled to fight in boxing back in 2025, but the fight ended up getting canceled after the boxer withdrew. ‘TNT’ Fury has been in talks with BKFC, though, regarding a shock signing, and talks are trending in the right direction.
“Yeah we have some good things (from Tommy), we’ve definitely been talking to team Fury a lot, that’s gonna hopefully be part of some things that we talk about in the next couple of weeks. I don’t think Darren did us any good last night blasting Tommy Fury and John Fury on the podcast but it’s business and everyone’s in it to make money so some good stuff is gonna happen,” Feldman continued.
During an appearance on the Ariel Helwani Show this past Monday, Till revealed that he received a call a few weeks ago from his manager, asking him to apologize to John Fury for things he has said about him in the past. In true ‘Gorilla’ fashion, though, Till refused to apologize to the Furys, claiming that he wouldn’t even apologize to them if it guaranteed he could fight ‘TNT’ for £10 million.
