Rose urges Evanilson to ‘stay hungry’ after extending scoring streak

Marco Rose challenged Bournemouth striker Evanilson to "stay hungry" after scoring in a fifth Premier League game in a row against Ipswich Town on Sunday.

Bournemouth's winning run in the top flight extended to four matches with a 2-1 triumph at Portman Road, and it was Evanilson who got the Cherries off to the perfect start.

Christian Walton could not sort his feet out with the ball inside his own penalty area, with Evanilson pouncing on the Ipswich goalkeeper and slotting into an empty net.

No player has recorded more goal involvements than Evanilson in the Premier League this season (nine, level with Erling Haaland), with this the joint-most by a Cherries player after 10 games of a Premier League campaign (also nine for Callum Wilson in 2018-19 and Antoine Semenyo in 2025-26).

An own goal 27 seconds into the second half from Leif Davis doubled Bournemouth's lead, but Jack Clarke's 73rd-minute penalty set up a grandstand finish.

However, Bournemouth were able to hold on, with Rose urging his in-form striker to maintain his form once the Premier League resumes after the international break.

Speaking to BBC Match of the Day, Rose said: "I have spoken a lot about him [Evanilson] the past few weeks. He always works hard out of possession, he's running between the lines, assists and now scores goals.

"I hope he stays hungry because it will be good for us."

The result means the Cherries are now unbeaten in eight games in all competitions for the third time in the club's history, and Rose was thrilled with his side's performance.

"I am happy we won this game so we could keep our run going. We are doing many things the right way as a team," added Rose.

"We stick together, have good balance in our game, defend together, suffer, and press well. That is why we have eight wins in a row."

Meanwhile, it was another defeat for former Bournemouth boss Gary O'Neil, whose side have now failed to win in their last four Premier League games.

More worryingly, the Tractor Boys have failed to keep a clean sheet in each of their last 29 Premier League games, the longest ongoing such run.

"I think if you give the ball to the opposition number nine twice in the Premier League, it's going to be a difficult afternoon for you," said O'Neil.

"The Premier League is ruthless and if you give teams those chances, they will take them.

"But I'm still proud of the players and where we are at after 10 games. The group are in a good spot, but it doesn't mean I'm not going to push the life out of them to get better."
