Liverpool, Man United, Arsenal and Chelsea have all stepped up their transfer activity this week

The summer transfer window closes in a little over three weeks and teams are picking up the pace to get their deals over the line.

This week has seen plenty of movement amongst the Premier League's biggest sides as they move to strengthen their squads ahead of the new season kicking off in two weeks' time. Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea are all expected to be in the mix for honours this season, and all four clubs are conducting their business accordingly.

Here, we take a closer look as Liverpool have landed on their second arrival of the transfer window after United sanctioned a departure. The Gunners are reportedly mulling over a move for an £85million-rated star, while Chelsea's impressive manoeuvring in the window has continued.

Liverpool agree loan with £47m option

Liverpool have finally made another move in the transfer market this summer with a loan move for Ronald Araujo. The Reds signed Victor Munoz early on in the window and welcomed French defender Jeremy Jacquet through the doors at Anfield, although he officially signed in January.

The Barcelona captain will bring vast experience to Andoni Iraola's injury-hit backline, even if he has suffered from fitness concerns himself in recent times.

It's claimed that there is no obligation for Liverpool to buy Araujo. However, should he impress on loan, there is a £47m option to make the 27-year-old Uruguayan international's stay a permanent one.

Man Utd confirm transfer exit

United have confirmed that goalkeeper Radek Vitek has joined Middlesbrough on a permanent deal in a deal worth up to £14m. United do have a buy-back clause, along with matching rights and a sell-on clause of up to 35 per cent.

Vitek had fallen down the pecking order after the arrivals of Senne Lammens, who became United's first-choice goalkeeper last season, and Karl Darlow, who was signed on a free as the club's new No. 2 after his Leeds United exit this summer.

Vitek joined United's academy in 2020 from Czech club Sigma Olomouc but had already left United on loan three times. A permanent move to Middlesbrough provides a chance for him to kickstart his senior career properly.

Arsenal revive £85m interest

Arsenal are reportedly weighing up a new move for Juventus winger Kenan Yildiz, according to The Times. The Premier League champions had made a play for Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior, but the Brazilian has elected to extend his contract with Los Blancos.

Yildiz, who is valued at around £85m, has emerged as a contender for the Gunners' left-hand side with Mikel Arteta's side failing in their initial enquiry for the Turkish international in June.

Juventus are believed to have rebuffed Arsenal on the basis that Yildiz is not for sale with the player under contract until 2030. The 21-year-old was also of interest to Chelsea and United last season.

Chelsea set to seal 11th signing

Chelsea are set to make their 11th signing of the summer with the arrival of Pep Chavarria. The Blues have been in talks with La Liga side Rayo Vallecano since the end of June regarding the left-back.

The 28-year-old has a £42.5m release clause in his contract at Vallecano, but a compromise has been struck, with the Blues forking out an initial £16.2m. A medical is believed to have been set for the defender, who will vie with Jorrel Hato for the left-back berth after Marc Cucurella left for Real Madrid earlier this summer.

Chavarria will become Chelsea’s 11th signing following deals for Marco Palestra, Morgan Rogers, Maxence Lacroix, Danny Welbeck, Jordan Henderson and Harrison Bettoni. Pre-agreed moves were already made for Valentin Barco, Geovany Quenda, Emmanuel Emegha and Dastan Satpayev.
