Arsenal Track £50m Attacking Midfielder: Would He Block Nwaneri?
Arsenal Track £50m Attacking Midfielder: Would He Block Nwaneri?

Arsenal transfer news: Arsenal’s strong start to the 2026/27 campaign has given Mikel Arteta plenty to build on, with the Gunners competing near the top of the Premier League and testing themselves against Europe’s leading sides. Their 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich on October 21 showed their ability to recover under pressure, while Martin Ødegaard continues to offer creativity from an advanced midfield position.

However, sustaining that level requires careful recruitment, particularly as Arsenal balance immediate ambitions with the development of their younger players. Arteta already has several options behind the striker, including Ethan Nwaneri, Kai Havertz and Eberechi Eze. Any new arrival must offer a clear tactical benefit rather than simply add another name to an already competitive group.

According to Transfer Feed, Arsenal have approached 11WINS, the agency representing Eintracht Frankfurt’s Can Uzun and Club Brugge forward Nicolo Tresoldi. The report places the Gunners among several clubs interested in the 20-year-old Turkish international, with Aston Villa, Everton, Brighton, AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund reportedly monitoring his situation.

Frankfurt could demand £50m in 2027, matching the reported release clause, after the attacker was available for around £34m during the summer. No reliable weekly wage figure has emerged, so Arsenal’s potential salary offer remains unclear.

Arsenal transfer news: Can Arsenal justify a £50m move without blocking Nwaneri?

Uzun has made an encouraging start to the season. Frankfurt’s official statistics record four goals and three assists across six appearances in all competitions, including two goals in five Bundesliga outings. He has played 504 minutes and started all six matches, giving him a substantial role in Frankfurt’s attack.

The right-footed attacker can operate centrally or drift into wider areas, offering Arteta flexibility around the final third. His scoring record suggests more than a conventional creative midfielder, although Arsenal would need to assess his pressing discipline and defensive contribution before committing such a fee.

In my opinion, the transfer makes sense only if Arteta sees Uzun as a genuine alternative across multiple attacking positions. Ødegaard remains the established creator, while Nwaneri needs meaningful minutes to develop. Spending £50m on another central playmaker could restrict that pathway unless Arsenal plan a broader reshaping of their forward line.

A possible link with Tresoldi adds another dimension, but shared representation does not guarantee a double deal. Arsenal should prioritise the role they need to strengthen, then judge Uzun on his tactical fit, defensive work and ability to deliver consistently against stronger opposition.
