Morgan Gibbs-White latest as Nottingham Forest injury update provided ahead of key clash

Nottingham Forest make the trip to Portman Road on Friday to face Ipswich Town in a key Premier League clash

Morgan Gibbs-White in action for Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest are set to be boosted by the return of Morgan Gibbs-White for this week’s crunch clash with Ipswich Town.

The Reds make the trip to Portman Road on Friday (8pm kick-off) looking to bring an end to a run of three straight defeats. Seven games into the Premier League season, they are 19th in the table with five points.

Forest were without talisman Gibbs-White for Sunday’s 1-0 reverse at home to reigning champions Arsenal due to a muscle injury, but the playmaker will be available against the Tractor Boys. Defender Nikola Milenkovic could also be in line to feature, having been an unused substitute at the weekend after recovering from bone bruising.

"Yes, he's ready,” head coach Oliver Glasner said of Gibbs-White. “He trained for the entire week, so no issues.

"Milenkovic was already on the bench so he is also ready to start and ready to play. It's just Igor (Jesus) and (Nicolo) Savona who can't be involved in the matchday squad, but all the others are fine and fit.

"Of course when your captain is available again, it's important. We also know that Morgan is somebody who can create chances and who can score goals himself, and that's always very positive.

"But on the other side, I think we could see that we also, without Morgan Gibbs-White, we had a very competitive team against the champions, and this gives us confidence. We lost without Morgan. We lost with Morgan.

“He's an important part. But he alone can't win the game, so we need a top team performance but it’s good to have him back.”

Striker Jesus has missed the past two games with a calf injury but could return for next month’s visit of Manchester City. Glasner is not prepared to take any risks, however.

“He's on track, I would say. If everything goes perfectly then he could return for the City game,” the Austrian said.

“Like I said with Morgan before, it is whether it makes sense to take a risk for one game? For example, after City we then have two weeks off because it's an international break. Does it make sense to take this risk when we have two more weeks? But he's on track.”
