Rams sign former Super Bowl champion to be their new kicker

The Los Angeles Rams will have another new kicker this week when they take on the Las Vegas Raiders, which will be their third in as many games. The Rams are signing veteran kicker Brandon McManus to replace the injured Blake Grupe.

McManus won Super Bowl 50 as a member of the Denver Broncos and has kicked in the NFL for 12 years, with this season being his 13th. He spent nine years with the Broncos, one with the Jacksonville Jaguars and the last two with the Green Bay Packers.

McManus, 35, went 24-for-30 as the Packers' kicker in 2025, with a long of 56 yards. He was just 6-for-12 from beyond 50 yards, including 3 of 7 from 40-49 yards.

Grupe, whom the Rams signed to replace Harrison Mevis, tore his ACL in his debut with the team on Sunday while trying to make a tackle. He made a 44-yard field goal before getting injured, but he's now ruled out for the season.

McManus will be the Rams' third kicker of the season, and hopefully the last. Los Angeles' special teams unit has been the worst in the NFL and it desperately needs some stability from a veteran like McManus.

McManus has had his share of down years, including 2017 when he only made 75% of his field goal attempts and 2022 when he made 77.8%, but he was 20-for-21 as recently as 2024, good for a 95.2% make rate.

That's the version of McManus the Rams need right now as they head into a crucial part of their season.
