Incredible scenes unfolded at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino ahead of kick-off between Torino and Lecce, on matchday 11 of the Serie A season.
The encounter got underway around 15 minutes late due to a bizarre issue with the pitch markings, which turned out to be visibly crooked in the area below the Curva Maratona stand.
The situation forced ground staff to take to the pitch to redraw the lines correctly, also aiming to prevent potential complications with Goal Line Technology and the overall validity of the match.
Managers and players watched on in disbelief at the unusual episode, with both teams already out on the pitch waiting for the emergency ground work to be completed. Only after about a quarter of an hour was the surface sorted out, allowing referee Feliciani to blow the whistle and start the match.
