Bayern Munich securing Harry Kane’s future would be about much more than keeping one of the most prolific strikers in world football. It would reaffirm the club’s ability to attract and retain elite talent while ensuring that Vincent Kompany’s attack remains built around one of its most important players.

Respected German football journalist and author Raphael Honigstein, whose work has appeared in The Athletic and The Guardian, believes Bayern already pulled off a major coup by convincing Kane to leave the Premier League in the first place. Speaking to Casino Guru, he explained why the England captain’s continued happiness in Munich makes a new deal feel like a natural outcome.

“Yeah, of course. I think the big coup is that they’ve managed to get him in the first place,” Honigstein said.

Honigstein noted that Kane’s move to Bayern was not necessarily viewed as a realistic possibility by many outside Munich. The club had laid the groundwork well in advance and took advantage of a summer when Europe’s biggest clubs were not all competing for the same kind of striker.

Now, Kane appears to have found the right environment to continue developing, both professionally and personally.

“I think on the pitch, you can see how he’s becoming an even better player, that he’s grown in terms of his all-round game even further,” Honigstein said.

Kane’s influence extends well beyond his goalscoring. His experience, leadership, and ability to link play have made him central to Bayern’s identity, while playing for a dominant team creates even more opportunities for him to deliver extraordinary numbers.

As Honigstein explained, playing for a club that regularly controls matches domestically and competes at the highest level in Europe means Kane gets more touches, more chances, and more opportunities to score.

There is also the personal side of the equation. Munich offers Kane and his young family an attractive lifestyle, with access to the mountains, lakes, skiing, and neighboring countries such as Austria and Italy.

Taken together, those factors make his reported willingness to extend his stay far less surprising.

For Bayern, keeping Kane would provide continuity, protect a cornerstone of Kompany’s project, and help maintain the club’s status among Europe’s elite. Finding a striker capable of matching his production would be an enormous challenge, making a new contract one of the most important pieces of business the club could complete.

As Honigstein’s assessment makes clear, Bayern did not simply sign a world-class goalscorer. They found a player who appears to love the club, the city, and the footballing environment around him. Ensuring that relationship continues for years to come would be a significant victory for Munich.
