Cristiano Ronaldo has spent much of this year proving that his ambitions stretch well beyond the pitch.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner, who scored 145 goals in 292 appearances across two spells at Old Trafford, still dominates headlines wherever he goes.
That was on show again last week, when his walkout from Portugal’s training camp had Europe talking.
Away from international football, his business interests have been quietly expanding, with club ownership now one of them.
In February, Ronaldo bought a 25% stake in Spanish second-tier side UD Almeria, as part of a Saudi-led consortium fronted by club president Mohamed Al Khereiji.
Almeria have now tied one of their most promising young players to a long-term deal.
Serbian midfielder Stefan Dzodic has signed a new contract until June 2032, as the club announced on their website.
The 21-year-old has agreed a two-year extension, announced just after his senior debut for Serbia during the international break.
Stefan Dzodic arrived from Montpellier on a free transfer in July 2025 on a deal until 2030, having made fewer than ten senior appearances in France.
He quickly became a regular, making 33 LaLiga2 appearances last season and being tipped as one of the league’s best young players.
Almeria turned down a €14 million (£12 million) offer from Lazio in January, plus €4 million (£3.5 million) in bonuses, and Bologna are reportedly monitoring him too, against a club valuation of around €20 million (£17 million).
He has started six of Almeria’s eight league games this season, and the extension is seen as protecting one of the club’s biggest assets.
Ronaldo’s own week has been far more turbulent, after the 41-year-old left Portugal’s camp following a fallout with new coach Jorge Jesus.
Portugal then won both games he missed, beating Denmark 4-2 and Norway 2-1, to sit top of Group A4 with 12 points from 12.
On Tuesday, Ronaldo posted a lengthy Instagram statement saying he and Jesus had agreed a game-management plan, and accusing the coach of going back on it.
He apologised to his team-mates and the Portuguese people, insisted he remains available, and said, “The consequence of this act of mine must be assessed and punished by the Portuguese Football Federation.”
Ronaldo has scored a record 146 goals in 234 appearances for Portugal.
His ownership of Almeria continues to raise the club’s profile, with Dzodic’s new deal a sign of the project’s long-term thinking.
