Welcome to Express Sport's live blog for the United States Grand Prix.

Kimi Antonelli is on pole in Austin and can guarantee the Drivers' Championship today by winning the race, as long as Lewis Hamilton finishes no higher than fifth, in combination with George Russell earning no more than the two points for a ninth-place finish. His teammate has qualified sixth, with the seven-time champion a place ahead on the grid, despite finishing fastest in the final practice session, something Hamilton put down to his Ferrari being a few tenths off on the straights as usual, with their significant power deficit to Mercedes and Red Bull.

Max Verstappen joins Antonelli on the front row, with Isack Hadjar joining his teammate in the top three. At the same time, Charles Leclerc outqualified Hamilton, with Russell coming ahead of the two McLaren drivers after Lando Norris dropped from sixth to eighth after having his best time deleted for a track limits violation. Hence, Oscar Piastri separates the two British drivers, completing the top eight. At the other end of the grid, Arvid Lindblad, Franco Colapinto and Gabriel Bortoleto are all serving grid penalties for taking new engine parts, the latter starting at the back after being penalised 60 places.
