A report has revealed the issues that will 'stop' LeBron James and the Philadelphia 76ers from winning the NBA title.

The Detroit Pistons welcome the Boston Celtics to the Little Caesars Arena in the 2026/27 NBA season opener on Tuesday.

Defending champions New York Knicks, who won their first NBA title in 53 years last season, begin the defence of the Larry O'Brien Trophy on Wednesday when they meet the Sixers, who, of course, now boast basketball legend James, who made the blockbuster switch in the summer.

Given the addition of James, the Sixers will set their sights on winning their first NBA championship since 1983, with their fans already casting their verdict on him following a pre-season game earlier this month.

'Complex' Theory Emerges After LeBron James Joins the Sixers

The Sixers pulled off a major coup to land James, who has won an impressive four NBA titles in his glittering career. He'll be aiming to win a fifth championship with his new team, who have gone over 40 years without success.

But that could change in the new season as the Sixers have bolstered their roster, with the signing of the 41-year-old forward, not to mention Jaylen Brown, who was involved in a trade with Paul George.

In July, the Celtics traded Brown to the Sixers for George, two first-round picks and two second-round picks. Fans and critics alike believe the Sixers, who also possess Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe, will be the best team in the league.

However, American outlet Clutch Points claim 'throwing these two with the Sixers' established stars will be somewhat complex'.

In a piece outlining the issues the Sixers face, they write: "But things like chemistry, familiarity and defense will also have an impact. One or more of those factors could scuttle Philadelphia's plans to become the best team in the Eastern Conference and the next NBA champions."

Tough Competition Will Stop the Sixers

Clutch Points also looks at another issue the Sixers face in the new NBA season, highlighting the fierce competition.

After achieving their first NBA title in over 50 years, the Knicks are in their glory and should have an excellent chance to make it to back-to-back championships.

The report also backs the Celtics, stating they will have something to prove without Brown, as well as the Pistons and the Cleveland Cavaliers, who both have the chance to be 'formidable', per Steve Silverman's piece.

The Clutch Points add: "Nobody is going to hand the Sixers anything. There is little doubt there will be certain nights where they are hitting on all cylinders and they will look like a brilliant and star-studded team. However, that does not mean they will have the consistency needed to get to the top and dominate. The cohesiveness needed could take more than a season to develop and the competition is brutal."

So, despite Nick Nurse adding huge firepower to his team, the Sixers face a couple of issues that could stop them from winning the NBA championship, with Silverman concluding: "Those are the fatal flaws that will keep the 76ers from winning the NBA title."
