Some much-needed wide receiver help is on the way for the Pittsburgh Steelers, as the team elevated a pass catcher from their practice squad for the Week 8 matchup against the Cleveland Browns.
On Saturday, the Steelers elevated wide receiver Brandon Johnson from their practice squad for Sunday's game versus the Browns.
Johnson, who began his career as an undrafted free agent with the Denver Broncos (2022–2023, 2025), also played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2025) and Las Vegas Raiders (2026), in addition to his brief off-and-on stints with the Steelers from 2024 to 2026.
Appearing in 25 career games, including three starts, Johnson has caught 26 passes for 335 yards and five touchdowns.
The Steelers also signed wide receiver Brandon Smith from their practice squad to the active roster for the Week 8 matchup against the Browns, which, when considered with Johnson's elevation, may hint at Ben Skowronek (calf) being inactive on Sunday.
