Wrexham fans celebrate Middlesbrough win at the Racecourse

After the disappointment of the defeat at Sheffield United on Friday, Phil Parkinson's side responded in style with a 2-0 win in front of the home faithful.

The sides went into the break goalless before George Thomason broke the deadlock in the 70th minute, with substitute Ollie Rathbone making sure of the points six minutes from time.

The result saw Wrexham inflict only Middlesbrough's second league defeat of the season, and the performance was met with plenty of appreciation from those inside the Racecourse.

It was arguably one of the best atmospheres of the season, with the crowd responding to the team's efforts on the pitch and backing the players throughout the night.

The noise only grew as the game went on, with Thomason's opener raising the volume before Rathbone's late second sparked more celebrations around the ground.

There were plenty of smiles in the stands as Wrexham closed out an impressive victory over the league leaders.

And as the final whistle blew, Phil Parkinson's song was belted out from the stands as the Wrexham faithful showed their support for the manager.

It was a fitting end to a memorable night at the Racecourse, with players and supporters able to enjoy the moment together after the final whistle.

Next up for Wrexham is another home game against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, live on Sky Sports.
