Charles Leclerc will not attend Thursday’s media at the Brazilian Grand Prix following the birth of his daughter on Tuesday.

Ferrari confirmed to PlanetF1.com that Leclerc is only travelling to Sao Paolo on Thursday.

Charles Leclerc misses Brazilian GP media day following daughter’s birth

Leclerc returned home to Monaco immediately after the Mexican Grand Prix to be present for the birth of his daughter.

The driver made it home in time, with Bianca arriving in the world on Tuesday.

Leclerc and his wife Alexandra announced the birth a day later, with a simple caption on social media: Bianca 🤍 3.11.26.

Leclerc will be absent for Thursday’s media day at the Interlagos circuit, giving him a bit more time at home with his family.

He’ll also have a few extra moments to recover from an intense few days after he arrives at the circuit, as Dino Beganovic will contest the FP1 session in his stead.

F1 2026: The season’s winners and losers

Ferrari had previously scheduled Rafael Câmara to make his practice debut, but changed its plans when Haas called up its F1 2027 driver to replace the ousted Esteban Ocon.

Leclerc’s absence from media days means fans will have to wait a bit longer to hear his side after Ferrari’s talks after the drivers’ Mexican Grand Prix clash.

The teammates fought for the lead on the opening lap, with Hamilton furious with Leclerc.

They emerged first and third with Max Verstappen between them, and the stewards penalised Leclerc for gaining an advantage off the track.

“We will talk about it, obviously,” Leclerc said last Sunday. “I don’t know if he was very unhappy with what I did, because I felt like what he did was very much on the limit as well.

“I think he was maybe more angry with the whole situation, how the situation was dealt with in Turns 4 and 5 with the penalty, etc. So this is something we’ll talk about for sure.”

But while Leclerc was the only one penalised for their lap 1 antics, he says he too could have something to say to Hamilton about his racing.

“Well, I’ll speak with Lewis,” he said. “I could be also unhappy with how much he pushed me off the track out of Turn 1, but I think it’s racing.

“When you are fighting for a win, it’s the way it should be.”
