"Spain must host the World Cup final, and if it does not, in my view Spain should not take part in organising the World Cup," Feijoo stated during an appearance on football show 'El Chiringuito'.

Asked whether he would push for Spain to withdraw from staging the tournament if Morocco secures the final should he become Prime Minister following the general election on 29 November, he replied: "Yes, the answer is yes."

Feijoo insisted that staging the final in Spain is "fair", "timely" and "indisputable", arguing that the country has consistently demonstrated its credentials to successfully host any major sporting event.

Furthermore, the PP leader pointed out that Spain and Portugal originally spearheaded the bid before Morocco joined the project.

Finally, he underlined that Spain is the leading powerhouse in world football and the current world champions in both men's and women's football.
