Manchester United fans have singled out one of their players for not being up to standard during the Red Devils' 1-1 draw at Leeds United on Sunday afternoon.
After stretching their winless run to five matches in midweek courtesy of a loss to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, Michael Carrick will have been hoping for a response from his players back in the Premier League.
That, he got, to begin with. Bryan Mbuemo opened the scoring in the 35th minute, with the Red Devils seeming to be running with more energy, intent, and fight than they've shown in other matches this season so far.
But after Leeds United found a route back in throuhg Dominic Calvert-Lewin early into the second period, the hosts were able to dig their heels in and extend their rivals' dismal run to just two wins in 10 matches - their worst start in 40 years, stretching back to 1986.
A huge contrast was evident in United’s performance at Elland Road. This time around, Carrick was able to watch his team fight for a win, something that can’t be said for pretty much every other match so far this season.
However, that didn’t stop some outcasts from making little impact as the retired midfielder looks to win back a vote of confidence. For example, Amad was toothless in attack, offering little threat in the final third. While he became something of a super sub just a couple of seasons ago, it's clear his ability to make a difference has waned as of late, as one X user remarked:
"I’ve said it before, Amad is not for this level. People hype him but I see right through bull****."
Another added: "Amad got lead in his boots? Seen milk turn quicker... looks slow as f***," as a third asked: "What's wrong with Amad?" and a fourth continued: "Amad might be the only winger in Europe whose every touch makes you less excited than the one before it. Can’t dribble, can’t shoot, can’t create. He plays like a petrified number six, scared to make a mistake."
Elsewhere, another remarked: "Amad has been useless today," while a sixth disgruntled X user concluded: "The body language from Bruno and Amad has been absolutely shocking."
