Sky Sports unveiled the newest member of their F1 coverage team ahead of the 2026 Brazilian Grand Prix, with Alexa Rendell joining as an F1 Multimedia Journalist.

While she might not be the most familiar face to F1 fans, Rendell has plenty of experience in the motorsport media world, having worked with Formula E, F1 Academy, WEC and the Alpine team prior to her new move to Sky.

The newly-created role will see her appear across Sky's live TV and social media coverage at race weekends, reporting from the paddock and interviewing drivers and other key personnel.

Where has Alexa Rendell worked before Sky Sports?

For a young person, Rendell has dipped her toes into an impressive number of professional pools - working with all of the aforementioned organisations as well as on Extreme E, Euroleague Basketball, Goodwood Festival of Speed, the NFL, and PDC darts, with some time spent at The Spectator too.

A lifelong motorsport fan, she applied for Formula E's Talent Call competition as a teenager, with that competition aimed at 'Gen Zs between the age of 18 and 24'. She didn't ultimately win that - losing out to winner Derin Adetosoye - but (clearly) wasn't deterred.

Rendell key to 'build momentum' with new F1 fans

Sky Sports have framed Rendell's hiring around the explosion of F1's popularity with young people and women, noting in their announcement that 'since becoming the home of Formula 1 in the UK and Ireland in 2012, Sky Sports has seen viewing among under-35s increase by 120 per cent, while its female audience has more than doubled'.

They wrote: "Alexa will help build on that momentum, creating content that reflects the evolving ways fans enjoy and engage with Formula 1, while making the sport more accessible and bringing audiences closer to the action.

"From the biggest stories in the paddock, to the personalities and rivalries beyond the race weekend, she will play an important role in connecting with both established fans and those discovering the sport for the first time."

Consistent with the profile of someone who Sky would look to for connection with the new generation of F1 fans, Rendell is active on social media – with around 30,000 followers each on Instagram and TikTok, the latter platform of which she credits for being noticed by Formula E when she applied for their Talent Call.

Rendell and Sky Sports' F1 director respond to hiring

Rendell said of her hiring: "I'm really thrilled to be joining the Sky Sports F1 family. Formula 1 has always been my first love, and Sky has been part of my journey in the sport since I was a teenager, when I got my first taste of the industry through its access events. To now be joining the team feels like a really special full-circle moment.

"I can't wait to get stuck in from Brazil and tell the stories that make this sport so incredible. With a new generation of fans coming into the sport, I'm really looking forward to helping connect with those audiences and sharing F1 in fresh and engaging ways."

Billy McGinty, Sky Sports' Director of F1, added: "We're delighted to welcome Alexa to the team. She is a rising star in motorsport broadcasting and has an instinct for connecting with audiences.

"Formula 1 is evolving, with more people than ever discovering and connecting with the sport, and it's important that our coverage evolves too – finding new ways to tell the stories and bring fans closer to the personalities and moments that make F1 so compelling."
