Danny Welbeck is now only one of two players to have ever played for Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea

Former Manchester United and Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck has become part of an ‘exclusive club’ after signing for Premier League side Chelsea this summer.

Danny Welbeck made his debut for Chelsea on Wednesday after manager Xabi Alonso handed him his first start in the pre-season friendly against Juventus.

Chelsea confirmed the signing of the 35-year-old former Manchester United talent after the Blues landed him from Brighton for an undisclosed transfer fee.

Welbeck had impressed in the 2025-26 Premier League campaign for Brighton after the former Arsenal forward netted 14 times in 40 matches across all competitions.

Chelsea summer signing Danny Welbeck now mirrors a feat that former Arsenal and Man Utd man George Graham pulled off

Danny Welbeck is now alongside George Graham as the only two players to have made an appearance for Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal in their careers.

The former England international made his debut under Sir Alex Ferguson at Man Utd before he left Old Trafford and signed for Premier League side Arsenal in 2014.

Welbeck, who rose through the ranks of the United youth academy set-up, played for both Watford and Brighton after his Arsenal spell ended in 2019.

Absolutely fine with this. If he stars, we bring him back. And if he does come back one day, he’ll be a far better goalkeeper than if he’d stayed back-up to Lammens

George Graham had previously pulled off the feat that Welbeck has now done all the way back in 1972 after he signed for Man Utd in a £120,000 move from Arsenal.

The 81-year-old Scottish former forward started his career with Aston Villa before he moved to Chelsea in 1964 after he was signed for a fee believed to be worth £5,000.

Graham made the switch from the Blues to the Gunners in 1966 after the former Man Utd man featured 98 times for Chelsea and scored 44 times for the club.

Graham would leave Old Trafford in 1974 and went on to play for the likes of Portsmouth, Crystal Palace and California Surf before he retired from football.
