Rowan Harmen-Luff was playing rugby for Burry Port against Tenby, at Tenby United’s rugby pitch, on November 8 last year.
The court heard that Harmen-Luff got into an altercation on the pitch and punched one of the Tenby players in the face causing two complete fractures to his jaw which required surgery.
Harmen-Luff, 20, of Heol Brynhaul, Pontyates, admitted wounding or inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent when he appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday, October 20.
In his defence it was said that there had been an incident on the pitch between Harmen-Luff and his victim.
It was said that Harmen-Luff had been punched first and had retaliated by punching his victim in the face when he was walking away.
That punch had caused his victim’s jaw to fracture in two places, requiring surgery.
Magistrates adjourned sentencing for a pre-sentence report. Harmen-Luff will be sentenced at Llanelli Magistrates Court next month.
