As previously reported, on the October 16 episode of WWE SmackDown, the match between R-Truth and Damian Priest ended in a referee stoppage after it appeared that Truth had sustained a legitimate injury. The match was halted when Truth attempted a top-rope dropkick but was unable to get back on his feet.

The referee checked on Truth before calling for the bell. After the match was stopped, Priest grabbed a steel chair, but Nathan Frazer and Axiom intervened to make the save.

According to Bryan Alvarez from F4WOnline.com, Priest made the decision to end the match the moment he realized Truth was hurt, but he did a remarkable job of staying in character throughout the situation.
