Giants would have gone for the win if they scored on final possession

New York Giants head coach John Harbaugh plays to win.

After Sunday's 34-27 loss to the New Orleans Saints, Harbaugh said that if the Giants had scored on their final drive with 12 seconds left, he would have gone for two points instead of kicking a tying PAT.

"We're going to go for two," Harbaugh told reporters after the game.

It didn't come down to that, so we'll never know.

With the score at 34-27, the Giants faced a fourth-and-one from the Saints' 14-yard line with 12 seconds remaining. Quarterback J.J. McCarthy had no timeouts, and running the ball was out of the question. Instead, he took the snap and fired a pass into the back of the end zone, where a well-covered Isaiah Likely had no chance at catching it as he was being assaulted.

The Giants had gone for two twice before that with mixed results. They made one on a McCarthy-to-Likely pass and missed another intended for Malik Nabers.
